A social network for poker staking, built from the ground up.
StakeKings, formerly Global Poker Link, runs a high-involvement social network for a global audience of poker and fantasy sports enthusiasts. We designed and built the whole thing.

The problem
A staking community is not a content site with comments bolted on. Members have profiles that matter, they follow each other, and the traffic arrives in spikes around tournaments rather than evenly. It also had to work on a phone, because that is where people check a stake while a tournament is running.
What we built
A ground-up custom community site on Joomla with JomSocial as the member profile system, and a fast mobile-friendly responsive theme over it. Every custom feature was built for this audience: the high-traffic blog, the fantasy sports area, and the member-facing mechanics that hold a staking community together.
What it did
A community platform that carries a global membership and holds up when a tournament puts everyone on it at once.
