Eighty separate websites, merged into one.
Albion College had accumulated more than eighty separate websites. Departments, programmes and offices had each built their own over the years, on their own terms, and a prospective student had no way of telling which one was current.

The problem
Eighty sites is eighty content structures, eighty navigation schemes and eighty places for an out-of-date programme description to sit unnoticed. The college could not launch a digital strategy across estate like that, because there was no single place to launch it. Consolidating meant moving every page and category without losing the people who wrote them.
What we built
We built one responsive master Joomla template and migrated the content and categories of all eighty sites into it. The hard part was permissions rather than pages: departments still needed to publish their own material, so the platform gives many contributors varied access levels over a single shared structure. One template, one content model, and an editing experience that does not require a department to own a website to update a page.
What it did
One unified site with many content contributors and varied access levels, presenting a single consistent experience to prospective students, and one place to launch a digital strategy from.
